Brew of The Week

Lumpy Gravy Ale   Lumpy Gravy Ale- Lagunitas Brewing Co.    71/2 Bottles(out of 10)

This beer was made in honor of the 40th anniversary of the release of the 2nd part of Frank Zappa’s 3-phase masterwork.  This beer is as intricate and interesting as Frank Zappa was in his lifetime.

What originally caught my attention with this beer, which was purchased at Hops and Grapes in Glassboro, NJ, was the picture of Zappa.  I am a huge fan and so i figured a beer with his picture on it would not disappoint and it did not.

Lumpy Gravy poured a dark brown color with a thick mocha colored head.  It head strong cocoa overtones and finished with and enjoyable chocolate caramel taste with a decent amount of bitterness and lots of carbonation.  The beer is bottled in a 22oz. dark brown bottle. If you can find this beer in stores its worth the four dollars or so that it costs, especially if you enjoy strong ales.
